Euro-Mediterranean Women in Journalism Award

The Euro-Mediterranean Network of Women Journalists joins the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) to launch the first edition of the Euro-Mediterranean Women in Journalism Award.

This unprecedented award recognises excellence in gender-sensitive, solutions-oriented journalism and encourages cross-border collaboration across the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The initiative is carried out in partnership with the Anna Lindh Foundation, the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), which will make up the jury responsible for selecting the winning submission.

Anna Lindh Foundation’s president, Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali, will be on the jury alongside European Institute of the Mediterranean executive president Senén Florensa and the International Federation of Journalists’ Gender Council chair, María Ángeles Samperio.

WHO CAN APPLY ?

The competition is open to women journalists from UfM Member States. Individual submissions are accepted, as well as collaborative work, provided that a woman is the primary credited author and that women make up at least 50% of the team.

PARTICIPATION CRITERIA :

Submitted work must address at least one of the UfM’s sectoral priorities, in one or more Member States:

1: Gender equality, youth engagement, inclusion of persons with disabilities, higher education, research and innovation

2: Environment, green and blue economy, urban development and transport

3: Climate action, energy and water resilience, disaster risk management

4: Employment, trade, investment, industry and digital transformation

THE AWARD :

The honouree will join the Euro-Mediterranean Network of Women Journalists and receive full sponsorship to attend its in-person networking and training event, as well as the award ceremony.
