GRANTS
Audience-Engaged Journalism Grants : Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) (Balkans & Visegrád countries)
Author:Zeineb Haj Slimane

Media outlets from ten Balkan and Visegrad countries are invited to apply for grants, training, mentoring and access to BIRN’s audience-engagement digital tool through the first call for Audience-Engaged Journalism Grants.

BIRN is launching a new round of support for media outlets seeking to strengthen community participation in reporting and investigate underreported issues.

Audience-engaged journalism places communities at the centre of the reporting process. By enabling citizens to contribute information, experiences and insight, this approach helps newsrooms uncover underreported issues, amplify underrepresented voices and build stronger relationships with their audiences.

DEADLINE: October 12, 2026
