Guiding Principles and Ethical Charter
The EMNWJ adheres to the values of equality, respect, integrity and professionalism. As a non-partisan organisation, it cannot engage in or be used for the furtherance of political objectives or agendas. The EMNWJ is a professional platform for collaboration, capacity-building and best-practices sharing to champion the goals of regional dialogue and cooperation, the empowerment of women, and inclusivity. When participating in EMNWJ activities, members must refrain from any behaviour that is contrary to the guiding principles, interests, and reputation of the network. Failure to respect these values may result in the rescission of membership. The network does not issue political statements. Anything published by members outside of the context of the EMNWJ is their own responsibility and does not reflect the network or its supporters’ positions. All members will be required to sign a document accepting the Code of Conduct (see point below) upon joining the network.

The network values open dialogue and the exchange of opinions and ideas. Members commit to sharing information in good faith, supporting one another, and contributing to a collaborative environment that promotes inclusive journalistic practices and bolsters the role of women in the profession.

Any information shared within the network that is not explicitly public must be treated with discretion. Members must obtain consent before sharing another member’s personal information or unpublished work outside the network.

The network upholds and reflects the mission of the Union for the Mediterranean, including the promotion of regional cooperation and dialogue. Members agree to contribute to a shared vision of balanced and respectful cooperation across the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The UfM Secretariat oversees all website and platform contributions before their publication. EMNWJ content adheres to the values of editorial neutrality and alignment with the UfM principles of gender equality, intercultural dialogue, and inclusivity.

- Accountability
All members are responsible for upholding this Code of Conduct. In the event of a conflict or violation, the UfM Secretariat will act as mediator to reach a respectful resolution and, if necessary, determine appropriate actions. Failure to respect these values may result in the rescission of membership.
